The Wolf Point Lions Club has an excellent goal in mind and now is asking for the community’s help in reaching the accomplishment.

More than a year ago, Lions Club members decided to start the project of raising funds for much-needed new playground equipment at Burkie Park.

Club secretary Gary Johnson said he talked about the project at that time with Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak. Johnson noted the city can designate about $10,000 for the new playground equipment.

The Lions Club raised $3,500 with its annual pancake breakfast for the project.

Recently, fundraising received a great lift when the Wolf Point Community Organization donated $20,000.

Other donations have included $750 from the Class of 2019 and $750 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Johnson said the Wolf Point Optimist Club is also willing to work on fundraising.

The estimated total amount needed is about $60,000. So far, the Lions Club has raised $35,000 ,including the $10,000 from the city.

“We think it’s obtainable,” Johnson said.

Donations can be mailed to Wolf Point Lions Club, Gary Johnson, 742 Johnson St., Wolf Point, MT 59201.
