Dames At Sea Opes FPST 2021 Season
The Fort Peck Summer Theatre is opening their summer season with Dames at Sea. The show will run from June 4–20. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m.
Fort Peck Fine Arts Council executive director Jennifer Fewer told the Northern Plains Independent, “A star is born in this the tap-dancing musical extravaganza about Ruby, a young chorus girl who, with help of some energetic sailors, saves the day and proves the show must go on. Dames at Sea also marks the debut of the theatre’s innovative new stage, featuring many thrilling bells and whistles, refurbished dressing rooms, a brand-new roof and state-of-the-art sound system upgrade.”
Ruby is played by Billings native Megan Grosso, a recent graduate of Chicago College of Performing Arts. The production also features FPST veteran Rob Watson and new company members Rachel Franke, James Garret Hill, Calvin Pierce and Jaclyn Stapp.
“Artistic director Andy Meyers, who directs this production, starred in a 35th Anniversary Off-Broadway Revival of Dames at Sea in New York City,” said Fewer. “Lauran Stanis serves as choreographer, leading the company through an intensive tap dance boot camp.”
Scott Koljonen will return as musical director.
Following Dames at Sea, the 2021 season continues with You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Spitfire Grill and Baskerville running in rotation beginning June 25. Ed Asner in God Help Us will run July 2–4; Godspell, Jr, July 28–31 and Terms of Endearment, Aug. 20–Sept. 5.
