Nearly 80 elementary aged students experienced fun and developed their religious beliefs during the week-long vacation Bible school held at Gospel Fellowship Church in Wolf Point last week.

The Rocky Railroad theme from Group Ministries was a big hit for the youngsters who are entering kindergarten through fifth grade. The event was held 6-8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. The week ended with a free barbecue meal for parents along with a program on Friday night.

“We just care about the kids and to give them hope,” Diane Andrews, one of the event’s organizers, said.

The week, which was free for students, included recreation, storytelling and excellent refreshments.

Lessons included God gives hope, to be bold, you can live forever through God and help us be a good friend.

“We thought those were good themes for our community,” Andrews said. “God gives us hope and courage.”

The event featured an impressive stage featuring a railroad station, train tracks, a train, mountain and wildlife. Pam Casterline worked for a couple of weeks on the display.

Snacks included treats in the shape of railroad tracks, stop signs and train wheels.

Andrews noted that 27 volunteers, both from the church and the community, made the vacation Bible school a success.

“We put our best foot forward for excellence,” Andrews said. “They love it. They make it fun and interactive.”
