The Stampede Roundup Tough Enough To Wear Pink Golf Tournament had a new local organizer this year, and the effort remained well supported by Wolf Point community members.

Squires Insurance stepped up to organize the tournament after Jan Bryan retired after many years of volunteering. Bryan still golfed in this year’s event.

“Jan Bryan asked us to take over the reigns,” Bethany Toews of Squires Insurance said.

Despite high temperatures, the tournament went over at the Wolf Point Airport Golf Course. Thursday at the rodeo was also Squires Insurance night.

“We were excited to have the opportunity to join a great cause,” Toews said.

The golf tournament attracted 25 four-team teams.

“We had a great turnout,” Toews said.

She was pleased that rodeo clown/barrelman Tate Rhoads and bullfighter JD Harrell took part in the tournament.

The tournament raises at least $1,600 each year for NEMHS’s mammography department.

Since 2009, the Tough Enough to Wear Pink program in Wolf Point has raised $73,878. The highest amount of funds raised at the local level prior to 2023 was $4,304 in 2016. The Tough Enough To Wear Pink campaign set a local record for funds raised in 2023. The total of $8,038 raised in 2023 included about $5,700 from the annual golf tournament.

Tough Enough to Wear Pink provides a nationally-recognized campaign and framework for rodeos and western events to help them promote breast cancer awareness and fundraising to benefit their local communities.

Since its inception in 2004, TETWP has empowered rodeos and western events in the U.S. and Canada to focus attention on the need for a cure. To date, the campaign has raised over $41 million dollars for breast cancer charities, much of which stays right in the community.

Thanks For Your Support

Jan Bryan was presented a star quilt from Clint and Arlyss Long at Saturday night’s Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede rodeo. Bryan was thanked for her many years of support for the Stampede. She was described as the “sponsor queen.” Her service included organizing the Stampede Roundup Tough Enough To Wear Pink Golf Tournament for many years.
