Lady Wolves Lose Home Match To Baker
Wolf Point’s fell in three straight sets against a strong Baker team at home on Friday, Sept. 6.
Baker won the non-conference match by a 25-7, 25-7, 2512, final.
The hard-hitting Spartans jumped out to a 20-3 in the first set. Wolf Point’s Keeley Blount-Henderson then accounted for a kill and a strong serve to cut the margin to 206.
Ahead by a 22-7 score, Baker accounted for the set’s final three points including a block by Madison O’Connor.
Baker gained leads of 7-0 and 9-1 in the second set. Wolf Point’s Ma’Kenzie Jackson then scored a kill for the Wolves.
After Baker increased its lead to 19-4, the Wolves scored on a nice block by Lauren Rodenberg.
The Spartans added points on kills by Kyal Hadley and Hope Gonsioroski down the stretch for a 25-7 victory.
Down by a 14-6 margin, the Wolves received solid net play by Blount-Henderson and Rodenberg in the third set.
Baker moved ahead 22-9 on a pair of kills by M. O’Connor. After a serve by Marley Moran closed the margin to 23-11 and a block by Kashlyn Speak Thunder cut the gap to 24-12, Baker scored the match’s final point.
The Wolves opened the week by losing a conference match at Harlem by a 24-26, 9-25, 23-25, 14-25, final.
Wolf Point will host Poplar on Thursday, Sept. 12, and then travel to Plentywood on Friday, Sept. 13.
