Lewis Earns Scholarship In Florida
Wolf Point’s Myklynn Lewis attended a studio boot camp hosted by Talent Inc in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., this past weekend. She earned scholarships to attend the long term performing arts program at New York Film Academy College of Visual and Performing Arts in New York, N.Y.
Said Lewis, “The experience was amazing, I made many new friends and met many new people! I also had two schools interested in me and I also got a $30,000 scholarship for the New York film academy to get my bachelors degree so I think that might be my future college!”
Lewis participated in a talent show and red carpet events July 31. She received a letter from NYFA director of musical theatre recruitment Joey Dixon August 1 formally offering her scholarships to attend the program.
Lewis’s mother, Rolinda Yazzie-Lewis, posted on social media Aug. 1, “I’m so proud of our daughter. She has taken a step out of her shell and performed for all kind of producers. I would like to thank all who had help her get here.”
Lewis was supported in efforts by various members of the community, including funding from the Nakona Dakota Oyate Youth Council.
Lewis released a debut single EP last year titled Mixed Feelings. It includes three tracks: Karma, I Am Free and Love Me. The release is available on Spotify, Sound Cloud, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon Music.
