Train Versus Pedestrian Collision Claims One Near High School
First responders were called to the scene of a fatality involving one woman and a BNSF train in Wolf Point Friday, Nov. 1.
A train conductor called in the accident at 9:48 p.m., indicating the presence of what was believed to be an unconscious male near CE 1 Drive on the eastern edge of Wolf Point. CE1 Drive is located near the Marvin Brookman Stadium.
The conductor told dispatch that the train might have hit an individual. It is believed that the victim may have been walking along the tracks at the time of the accident.
The victim was found behind Wolf Point High School.
Fort Peck Tribes’ Department of Law and Justice Sgt. Eugene Stump and Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dave Betshismedicine were co-primary officers, with the Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department, Wolf Point Volunteer Ambulance Service and BNSF law enforcement assisting.
According to Roosevelt County Undersheriff John Summers, the Roosevelt County Coroner pronounced the victim, a woman, dead around 11 p.m. Her name has not yet been released.
Fort Peck Tribes’ Criminal Investigator Ken Trottier is leading the investigation. He could not be reached for comment as of press time.
