Library Board Meets In Poplar
Italian Pie Social Set For March 14

The Roosevelt County Library Board met at the James E. Shanley Tribal Library in Poplar Feb. 1. RCL trustees Laurie Evans and Sue Snitker were in attendance, as were chairperson Beth Hekkel, vice chair Gloria Mason and director Andrea Hays. Tribal library director Anita Sheetz and main employee Janet Livingston were listed as guests.
Minutes were accepted for the Oct. 26 regular meeting.
Copies of the December statement of accounts were distributed. No large purchases were made in January.
Under old business: Hays handed out information on a Macmillan petition from the American Library Association concerning e-books. Macmillan wants to restrict member libraries to one copy of new release titles during the first eight weeks of their release. The petition is still circulating.
Hays also handed out copies of the revised memorandum of understanding with the James E. Shanley Tribal Library. The MOU will need to be updated in 2022.
Froid librarian Sheri Harvey reported that Froid is considering starting a second book club. She added that Froid received $465 from the community fund drive.
Hays shared information about hiring a new library director, including a job description and letters. She said she would help create a job description and help to formulate a job opening advertisement. Copies of phone numbers for the state librarian were distributed along with other contacts Hays feels may be able to help.
The main reported a notice from Nemont claiming an instance of copyright infringement for the use of a film, Playing with Fire. If it happens again, said Hays, another letter and/or a fine are possible.
The main reports hosting an art exhibit from the Bigger Sky Kids after school program. An open house was hosted Feb. 5.
The main’s book club is still active, as is Play Time Pals.
The Friends of the Library is planning an Italian pie social on Saturday, March 14.
Patricia Silva Pronto has been hired as a circulation librarian at the main beginning Feb. 3. The next hire coming up will be a janitorial position.

The board approved an amended Patron Behavior Policy with minor additions and changes.
Copies of the Montana Public Library Statistical Report were handed out and perused.
The next library board meeting is set for Saturday, March 28, in Wolf Point.
