Commissioners Award Bridge Replacement Bid
Presser, Steve Harada Address Meeting
The Roosevelt County Commissioners held their regular meeting via phone conference Tuesday, April 21. Commissioners Gary Macdonald, Gordon Oelkers and Duane Nygaard were in attendance.
Minutes were approved for the month of March, the April 7 regular meeting, an April 7 special administrative meeting and an April 14 public hearing on road abandonment.
During public comment, Bill Juve asked about a possible extension for the county tax deadline. The commissioners explained that an extension would require action at the state level.
The commissioners awarded requests for proposals and qualifications for the county growth policy and engineering services to Interstate Engineering. The award, based on an overall evaluation from the commissioners, is good for five years.
A request to abandon County Road 2064 south of Bainville was approved.
Patty Presser from the health department addressed the meeting. She confirmed that there were seven cases of COVID-19 in the county, as of Tuesday morning. She reiterated the need for adherence to all local and statewide orders and directives regarding COVID-19 and social distancing.
Steve Harada gave a brief update from the Unified Command Task Force. The task force is made up of members of the Fort Peck Tribes, Roosevelt County, Indian Health Services and other area organizations. A report drafted after the group’s April 13 meeting stated, “All of the preventative measures put in place over the past weeks take on renewed importance with COVID-19 in our communities. It is extremely important for all Roosevelt County residents to follow recommendations from the Health Department and the Governor to stay home as much as possible and avoid contact with others outside of the home, especially if you are not feeling well. A bid for bridge replacement on County Road 1013 was awarded to Bishop, Inc. The cost of the replacement is $199.583.
Claims were accepted for April 8 in the amount of $168,259.17.
Annual pay raises were approved for clerk and recorder employees Liara Braaten and Lindsey Nygaard.
