Fate Of Wild Horse Stampede Pending
The Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede is on schedule and planning in place for July 9-11, according to a press release issued last week by the Wolf Point Stampede committee.
Said the press release, “We are closely monitoring the current regulations from Gov. Bullock’s directives and the local health department. We will be making a final decision by June 1 according to the most updated directives.”
The committee will be meeting again May 17.
If planning efforts are successful, it may be a banner year at the rodeo grounds in Wolf Point. Some competing events in Canada have canceled their programing for the year.
The Calgary Stampede has canceled, rather than postponed, their rodeo due to concerns about COVID-19.
“In regards to Stampede-time events specifically, the ongoing ban on large public events means we are unable to host the 2020 edition of the Calgary Stampede,” said a statement on the group’s website. “There are intrinsic ties with both the Western Fair circuit and North American Fair circuit, particularly with the midway. Fairs across North America are assessing the impacts of COVID-19 and bans on mass gatherings in their regions.”
