Another week goes by and we find ourselves still locked down and the doors remain closed to any of our public without appointments. We hope that you are staying safe and enjoying the beautiful weather while it’s here.

On Aug. 1, Julie Bach will be taking over the aging services department as I move into an early retirement. Bach has been with the county since 2012 and with aging services since 2016. She will be a good fit for our programs and staff going forward. She is also well versed in the many programs we run across the county: our meal programs, senior centers, homemakers and outreach.

Bach has spent the past four years working with me and getting familiar with the many Medicare and Social Security concerns we run across and has a good understanding of how to help folks needing assistance with enrollment, Part D, Low Income Subsidy, Medicare Savings Programs and many of the other assistance programs available to the older adult. She will be working with Alyssa Pautsch, who was recently SHIP and I& A certified through the State of Montana, which provides background, on-going training and the resources to keep us as up to date as possible with the barrage of information, assistance and programs available to those 60 and older.

I would expect that any of you who are familiar with aging services already will not experience any indication that the leadership has even changed and can look forward to a smooth transition.

I sincerely appreciate having had the opportunity to return to this role five years ago and feel grateful to have been a part of something I truly believe is a meaningful and necessary service provided by Roosevelt County.
