YellowJackets Fall To Blue Devils, Now Head To District Tournament
Northern Plains Independent Staff Writers Wolf Point YellowJackets had their last home games of the season on Sunday, July 26, against the Glendive Blue Devils.
The Wolf Point Yellowjackets put up a strong fight before falling short against Glendive, 13-5, during home baseball action on Sunday.
With the score even at 2-2, Wolf Point gained a 3-2 lead when Gaige Bushman scored on a hit by Leil Reddog.
The Blue Devils responded with three runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 5-2 advantage.
The Yellowjackets battled back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth when Andrew Azure and Preston Swenson crossed the plate for a 5-5 deadlock.
Glendive went ahead to stay with three runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth inning.
Having Wolf Point’s three hits were Swenson, Griffin Azure and Reddog.
Glendive won the second game by a 12-1 final as Jacoby Matthern fired a no-hitter.
Wolf Point’s only run came in the bottom of the fourth when MykLynn Lewis reached base on an error and later scored on a wild pitch.
The Blue Devils gained a 5-0 lead during the first three innings and then added five runs in the fifth.
Wolf Point will be headed to Billings on Thursday, July 30, for the District Legion Baseball tournament.
