Yellowjackets Lose Two At District Tourney, Will Play At Watford City

Northern Plains Independent Staff The Wolf Point Yellowjackets dropped their two baseball games at the district tournament held in Billings.

Wolf Point lost to the Billings Blue Jays, 19-1, in the first round of the district baseball tournament on Thursday, July 30.

Billings scored three runs in the first and seven more in the second to grab a 10-0 advantage. The team added two runs in the third and four in the fourth inning.

Andrew Azure accounted for Wolf Point's run in the fourth inning.

Having hits for the Yellowjackets were Azure, Terry Allmer, Leil Reddog and Preston Swenson.

Pitching for Wolf Point were Canyon Casterline and Swenson.

Wolf Point then fell to the Billings Cardinals, 12-1, on Friday afternoon, July 31.

The Yellowjackets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Lance St. Germaine walked, stole two bases and then crossed the plate on an error.

Billings took control with 10 runs in the first. The Cardinals added two runs in the second inning.

The Yellowjackets were held hitless in the game.

Pitching for Wolf Point were Allmer, Azure and Casterline.

The ‘Jackets are scheduled to play in Watford City, N.D., Aug. 8-9 at the Mondak Fall Brawl.

The Yellowacket’s Thursday game times are at noon vs. Watford City and at 2:30 p.m. vs. Glasgow. Friday’s game for the ‘Jackets will be at noon vs. Williston. Two additional games are set at 2:30 and 5 p.m., with teams dependent on the results of the earlier games.
