Mark McClammy
Mark Quincy McClammy, “Wakan Wiyaka Nunpa Wicasa” (Holy Two Eagle Feather Man), 33, of Poplar died July 31, 2020, at the Billings Clinic.
He was born to Jackie Stormy and Robert “Pinner” McClammy on May 7, 1987, in Poplar. As a young boy, he spent time living with his mother and stepfather John and his grandmother Lorraine. He was a grandma’s boy and enjoyed the time he spent with her. He was especially close with his brother, Michael, and sister, Sherry.
He attended schools in Brockton and Poplar until his sophomore year when he transferred to Chemawa in Oregon. At Chemawa, he met lifelong friends and mentors who became more like family to him. He loved his time there playing basketball as a Brave and the countless hours of open gym and attending the school field trips to Portland, Ore., and other locations.
After high school, he attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. He attended with some of his Chemawa friends and also met many new friends during his two years there. After taking a break from college, he moved to Billings. He worked various jobs in the Billings area, enjoyed fun times with his cousins and playing ball at North Park and the MSU Billings Rec Center.
He later moved back home to Poplar and became a father to his firstborn, Rebekka Ann’Marie, and again to Sherri Lorraine.
His favorite pastimes were watching basketball at any level, whether it be watching his favorite player LeBron on NBA TV, the Poplar Indians or his little brother play for the Brockton Warriors; playing ball at open gym; hunting and fishing; cruising; playing dice; gambling; and visiting with friends and family.
He was never in a rush and didn’t mind the extra time it took to complete a task. He did everything in a certain order and enjoyed his routines and, despite his inability to stay awake too long in a car as a passenger, he found joy as a TERO driver for the Sidney Sugarbeet vans.
Lastly, he was always concerned about the people he cared about from all walks of life. He made sure to check on everyone and provide support any way he could when people needed him. He had a good sense of humor and his own slang which all who knew him would eventually start using what we referred to as “Mark Q” lingo.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jackie and John Spotted Bird; father, Robert “Pinner” McClammy; daughters, Rebekka and Sherri; sisters, Kristen Big Leggins, Mariah McClammy, Janis Spotted Bird, Jackie Spotted Bird, Catherine Spotted Bird, Pauline Boxer, Mackenzie Jones and Kiara’Jae Strikes Many; brothers, Michael Mc-Clammy, Rodney Drum, Tristen McClammy, Dwaine Spotted Bird, Royce Spotted bird Jr.; and adopted brother, Griffin Ricker; grandparents, Cam and Sharon Brown of Canada, Louise Ell, Gloria Chopper, Pearl Hopkins and Barbara Birdsbill.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Poplar Arbor with interment at Box Elder Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
