Mayme Red Eagle Ayers
Mayme “Sis” Ida Red Eagle Ayers, 47, of Poplar died Aug. 5, 2020.
The youngest daughter born to Elmer Sterling Red Eagle Sr. and Deloris Ann (Kirn) Red Eagle, she was born March 29, 1973 in Poplar. She grew up and attended school in Poplar. After leaving school her senior year to start her life as a mother, she went back and later got her GED and attended college classes at Fort Peck Community College.
In April 1994, she met Kenny Ayers and they were together throughout her lifetime. Together, they had four children, Tiffany, Brittany, Alicia and Aaron. She was happiest when all of her babies and grandbabies were together under one roof. She loved the sound of little feet running through the kitchen and all the laughter that came with it.
She worked a few different jobs in her time, but her favorite was bartending at Barackers Bar. She made many friends and met much of her family throughout her years working there. She loved the conversations her customers would bring and enjoyed her many games of pool and darts and playing music on the jukebox.
Her favorite hobbies included water skiing, cruising with her friends and family, watching scary movies, gambling, shopping and going on trips out of town. She was a bit of a homebody and would pick a movie night in her room with her family over anything, but she loved escaping town every now and then just to get away.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Harvey Dean Red Eagle and Jerome Red Eagle; and adopted mother, Leta (Archdale) Melbourne.
She is survived by: her husband, Kenneth D. Ayers; father, Elmer Sterling Red Eagle Sr.; daughters, Tiffany Weinberger, Brittany Martell and Alicia Ayers; sons, Aaron Ayers and Matthew Ayers; six grandchildren; brother, Elmer Sterling Red Eagle Jr.; sister, Lawanda Red Eagle; and adopted father, Manny Melbourne.
Due to current Covid funeral restrictions, the family wishes to hold a memorial service at a later date. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
