Area Fishermen Earn Angler Of The Year Honors In Fort Peck Series
After a summer of tournament fishing on Fort Peck, the anglers taking the top honors in the Montana Walleyes Unlimited Fort Peck Championship Series for 2020 have been announced.
Taking Angler of the Year was Brett Normandy of Havre with 196.53 points. Taking a close second and third were Jason Eggebrecht of Fort Peck, 196.11; and Ross Lien of Glendive, 196.11.
Eggebrecht and Lien teamed up throughout the summer and took Team of the Year with 196.11 points. Coming in second place was Jay Erickson and Garrett Long, both of Wolf Point, with 193.26 points. Third place was claimed by father/ son team of Brandon and Brady Babb, both of Fort Peck, with 185.69 points.
Couple of the Year were the father/daughter team of Clint Volbrecht of Richey and Megan Volbrecht of Circle. They had 171.76 points. Andy and Samantha Rose, a husband and wife team from Huntley, came in second with 170.15 points. They also had the largest walleye caught and released during a circuit tournament. Third place was Joye Murnion and Cal Phipps of Jordan, who scored 141.03 points.
Claiming the Adult/Child Team of the Year as Mike and Tristan Dombrovski of Billings with 137.90 points.
The series consists of Rock Creek, Hell Creek and Governor’s Cup tournaments and scoring is based on two out of the three events.
