Commissioners Approve Mail Ballot Election
The Roosevelt County commissioners held their regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25.
A federal general mail ballot election for all active voters county-wide was approved unanimously. County residents who haven’t voted recently will need to activate their status on the county rolls to receive a ballot in the mail. A memorandum of understanding between the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Peck Tribes regarding capacity for tribal inmates in the county detention center. The MOU has been renewed several times and is good for six months. Under the agreement, as many as 10 tribal inmates may be accepted at any time, with a limit of five female prisoners.
Claims were accepted for Aug. 20 in the amount of $168,346.26.
A motion to hire James Magnan for the detention center was tabled until the sheriff’s office budget can be completed.
Three bids were considered for concrete work at the courthouse. BP Construction submitted the lowest bid at $15,900 for concrete removal and replacement in the front and back of the building. The commissioners approved BP for the job.
Minutes for the month of July were approved, as well as an Aug. 10 special meeting to approve tax deeds for advertisement and sale.
The commissioners also approved the minutes for the Aug. 11 regular meeting and special administrative meetings Aug. 12 and 17. The latter meetings were held to approve the hire of three temporary mowers for the road department.
