Darrell Gene Christian, 40, died Aug. 21, 2020, in Poplar.

He was born in Poplar on May 14, 1980, to Venetta Eagle and Darrell “Porky “Christian Sr. He was raised and educated in Poplar. Jan. 27, 2020, he rededicated his life and heart to the Lord.

He graduated with the class of 1999 at the Poplar High School. He excelled in football, track, basketball and wrestling.

His ultimate love was playing the drums. He started playing the drums in the sixth grade and first started playing with the church worship team at the Poplar Assembly of God Church when he was in the ninth grade. He played for various bands including Seasons, The Blue Ribbon Band, The Cousins and Rise from Ruin. Most recently, he would play the drums for Pastor Jay and the Assembly of God Church.

After graduating high school, he followed his big sister and big brother to Iowa, where he worked for Tyson foods. In 2002, he moved home and became a police officer for the Fort Peck Tribes. He graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy. After being a police officer, he studied and took the test for his CDL to become a truck driver. He drove for various trucking companies and was currently employed by Fort Peck Transit. He loved driving for and visiting with the elders and different people on his bus.

He met Alisha Corpron and, from this union, Jaime was born. He later met Karrie Charette and, from this union, Kayawna and Devin were born. He later married Andrea Sloan and, from this union, Julian and Anya were born. He thought of and raised Delia, Darlene, Andriana “Pebbles” and Mayme as his own.

Heis survived by his children, Jaime, Kayawna, Devin, Julian, Ayna, Delia, Darlene, Adriana and Mayme; mother, Venetta; sisters, Orlonda Gray Hawk, Terri Lynn Christian of Poplar and Lilda Christian of Wolf Point; brothers, Duke Lethbridge of Sioux City, Iowa, and Kenneth Eagle of Billings; and grandmother, Rose Morsette of Poplar.

He was preceded in death by his twin daughter, Shyleigh Ray Christian.

Evening services were held Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church West of Poplar. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. Assembly of God Church West of Poplar. Pastor Jay Cummins will officiate. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
