Froid/Lake Red Hawks Look Forward to Football Season
After recent struggles, the Froid/Lake Red Hawks are preparing for a big jump in the standings this six-man football campaign.
The Red Hawks have 16 boys out for football this season. Michael Reiter is the head coach for the third year while Jalen Hendrickson is the assistant for the second year.
“It's a lot higher than in the past,” Reiter said of the turnout. “It's probably the highest since we were eight-man.”
Among the standouts back for the Red Hawks are running back/safety Issac Johnson and 6-2 end Colt Miller. Other threats include Ashton Hobbs and Aishon Hobbs.
Froid/Lake features strong line play with Jason Eylander, Walker Ator, Caden Kelm and Brett Stentoft.
“We have a good balance of speed and strength,” Reiter said. “It's our time to be the upperclassmen. Athletically, we have a good chance this year.”
The coach feels defending state champion Jordan is the team to beat in the league.
“And I don't count Wibaux out,” Reiter said. “I feel the East will be real tough again.”
The Red Hawks will open their season at home against Bainville on Saturday, Sept. 5.
