Wolf Point High School Sports Resume Practices, Schedule
After five days without practices because of a virus case in the school district, Wolf Point High School athletes were eager to be back at it on Monday, Sept. 7.
“We're trying to stay pretty much on course,” Wolf Point's athletic director Cody Larson said Monday.
The Wolf Point Wolves were forced to cancel their home football game against Baker that was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4. Larson said there's still some hope that the contest will be rescheduled.
“We haven't ruled it out,” he said. “But, more than likely, not.”
Volleyball matches called off included a match in Glasgow along with matches against Baker and Scobey. Larson said the plan is to reschedule the matches against Glasgow and Baker.
This week's high school varsity schedule includes Wolf Point playing football at Harlem on Friday, Sept. 11, the Wolves hosting Poplar on Thursday, Sept. 10, and traveling to Circle on Saturday, Sept. 12, for volleyball, and the cross country team competing in Scobey on Thursday, Sept. 10.
“We don't have any concerns,” Larson said, but he noted that safety remains the top priority. “We want to get back to what is close to normal now.”
He said he tries to look at the silver lining of the missed games.
“Some players got a chance to mend,” Larson said.
