Poplar Loses Home Game Against Roundup
The Poplar Indians experienced a tough night as they lost to Roundup, 52-6, in Class B football play on Friday, Sept. 11.
Poplar’s lone touchdown came on a slant pass that covered 28 yards from Inyan Growing Thunder to Wilfred Lambert in the second half.
“In the first half, I was excited to see how well Xander Steele played,” Poplar coach Joe Hammer said. “A lot of our kids played both ways.”
The Indians earned a first down on their opening possession on a nice 14-yard gain by Wilfred Lambert, but Roundup’s Michael McHenry intercepted a pass and went 52 yards for a touchdown.
The Panthers scored on their first offensive possession when Ty Kombol broke loose for a 43-yard run.
Roundup gained a 22-0 advantage to end the first quarter when Austin Dylina recovered a fumble and went 23 yards for a touchdown.
The Indians return to action with a home contest against Shepherd on Friday, Sept. 18.
