Abby Traeholt is teaching social studies at Wolf Point High School this year.

Traeholt grew up in Wolf Point and taught first grade at Southside School for two years before shifting to high school at Lustre for three years. Prior to that, Traeholt taught first grade in Kalamath Falls, Ore., for five years.

She attended college at Oregon State University, where she earned a bachelor of science with an emphasis in psychology and sociology. She earned her master’s degree from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore.

Traeholt told the Northern Plains Independent that her hobbies include outdoor activities like camping and swimming at Fort Peck Lake.

Asked what her biggest surprise has been returning to teach in a year impacted by COVID-19, she said small class sizes and longer weekend breaks for students are the most dramatic changes. “My biggest class is four kids,” said Traeholt. “I’m just really grateful that we’re still open.”
