( Publisher’s Note: The following is part of a series featuring standout Wolf Point High School seniors.) Jewel Olson has a habit of excelling in everything that she tackles in her life.
The Wolf Point senior ranks second in her class and is a member of the National Honor Society.
She has played volleyball throughout her high school career and is a standout on this year’s Wolves’ squad. Olson says volleyball is her favorite sport. “I like my teammates and the chemistry we have,” Olson said of volleyball.
As a sophomore, she ran to a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Class B state track meet. She was also part of Wolf Point’s 400-meter relay team that finished fifth at the state competition.
Of course, there wasn’t a track season last spring because of Coronavirus concerns.
“It was pretty disappointing because I wanted to be a state placer,” Olson said. “We had only a couple of practices and it was called off.”
She’s hopeful of competing in track at the collegiate level.
In the classroom, she says her favorite subject is art and her favorite teacher is Vivian Schultz.
“I really like art,” Olson said. “I really like how she lets you make what you want and she really supports you.”
Olson hasn’t decided on her collegiate choice yet, but she is leaning toward Rocky Mountain College. “I probably want to go into family medicine,” she said. But she will never forget her days as being part of the Wolf Point Wolves.
“I like that I was able to have a good high school experience with most of my friend that I grew up with,” Olson said.
