Homecoming Goes Well For School

Although activities weren’t exactly normal because of social distancing, Culbertson students and the community were able to enjoy homecoming fun including a parade on Friday afternoon.

“I think homecoming is really cool because it’s part of our tradition,” Culbertson superintendent of schools Larry Crowder said.

Crowned homecoming queen and king were Abbey Granbois and Michael Pederson.

“Anytime we can do our traditional things, we’re feeling closer to being back to normal,” Crowder said. “It helps us feel normal. Anytime we can do that, it’s a bonus.”

The changes produced at least one positive change. In past years, students created their parade floats during evenings at various locations around town. This year, floats were built outside the school on Friday morning, Sept. 25. Crowder noted that this process allowed for all students to participate. Some students who live in rural areas might not have transportation back into town to help with the float decorating during nights.

“That aspect was super cool,” Crowder said. “We think there’s some aspects that we changed because of COVID that we might to continue.”

Events held during Friday morning included coronation, a lip sync contest, presenting tridents and a volleyball competition.
