( Publisher’s Note: The following is part of a series profiling area high school’s seniors.) Colter Romo is certainly finding at home at Culbertson High School.

After transferring prior to his freshman year in high school, Romo was a senior homecoming royalty candidate last week.

“The knowledge of the teachers is very strong especially for the math and science teachers as well as the English teacher this year,” the son of Chanon and Brandyn Romo said of what pleases him about the school. “The teachers are nice, the people are nice.”

He noted that he transferred to Culbertson because he was impressed with the on-line college classes available.

Romo’s on-line classes so far have included sociology, human geography and introduction to statistics. The classes are taken through Montana State University - Billings, but Romo plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman as a pre-med student.

His activities include being a member of the golf team and being president of the National Honor Society.

“We’re trying to round out our school a little more,” Romo said of the National Honor Society. “We’re trying to get the younger generation involved with the high school.”

The group is working on ideas regarding events with younger students.

Outside of school, Romo’s interests include hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
