The Bainville Bulldogs enjoyed a solid start but lost to Fairview, 14-25, 11-25, 9-25, on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

“We’re a young team that has to re-configure after last year,” Bainville coach Kallie Clarke said. “It’s a rebuilding year for us.”

The Bulldogs used the strong serving of Micah Anderson along with the net play of Lakyn Rabbe and Kendra Romo to grab a 9-8 lead in the first set.

“I think there’s a lot to work on,” Clarke said. “The future looks bright.”

After Fairview moved ahead, Bainville tied the match at 11-11 on a kill by freshman Brecklyn Pippenger.

The serving of Megan Asbeck and Teigan Taylor led Fairview to an 18-13 advantage. Ahead by an 18-14 margin, the Warriors scored the last seven points of the set with the net play of Jadyn Gackle leading the attack.

Spikes by Micah Anderson and Anderson kept the Bulldogs close during the early part of the second set. Fairview increased its lead to 22-10 on kills by Morgan Slade and Asbeck. The Warriors went on to win by a 25-11 margin.

The third set started with an ace by Bainville’s senior Gianna Boyd. Fairview gained an 11-4 lead and increased the margin to 14-5 on kills by Gackle.

Kills by Pippenger and Anderson pulled the Bulldogs as close as 23-9. Fairview ended the match on an ace by Asbeck.

Bainville returns to action against Nashua on Friday, Oct. 9.
