Froid/Lake put together a solid volleyball match to defeat Savage, 25-10, 25-14, 25-7, during league action in Froid on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Coach Kiah Smith was pleased with how the Red Hawks played throughout and how they came out strong against Savage.

Sydney Dethman, a 6-2 senior, enjoyed an excellent match with 16 kills and six blocks.

Meg Ator served four aces. Baylee Davidson accounted for 21 assists. Carolyne Christoffersen led the team with 14 digs.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 6-0 advantage in the first set on the serving of Ator along with strong attacks by Dethman and Aleah Johnson.

After Savage scored a point, the hard hits of Dethman led the way to a 13-1 lead. A spike by Kinsey Rasmussen and a block by Dethman increased the margin to 15-1.

The Warriors fought back to 19-8 on kills by Alexia Papka and Teah Conradsen. Kills by Dethman put the margin at 23-10. Froid/Lake scored the final two points of the set on an ace by Johnson and a kill by Dethman.

Froid/Lake gained an 8-0 lead in the second set and moved to a 13-2 lead on powerful kills by Dethman. A kill by Rasmussen and serves by Davidson put the score at 16-4.

After a kill by Papka put the margin at 22-14, the Red Hawks tallied the last three points on a kill and ace by Rasmussen and then a spike by Johnson.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 6-1 advantage in the third set. Kills by Johnson and an ace by Rasmussen put the margin at 12-5.

An ace by Christoffersen and a tip by Dethman put the Red Hawks’ lead to 17-7. Kills by Dethman led the Red Hawks to a 25-7 victory.

The Red Hawks will travel to Saco and face North Country on Friday, Oct. 9.
