Wolf Point Drops Match To Baker
The Wolf Point Wolves improved their play throughout the match but lost against Baker, 19-25, 13-25, 25-21, 23-25, in home volleyball action on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
In the first set, the Wolves fell behind 13-6 early, but the net play of Sierra Hamilton, Kayden Sibley and J’Elle Garfield led Wolf Point back to a 13-13 deadlock.
Behind 19-17, the Wolves tied the score on kills by Garfield, a 5-9 sophomore. Baker accounted for the last six points of the first game.
After a kill by Jewel Olson pulled the Wolves to 14-9 in the second set, the Spartans broke away for a 21-11 advantage.
A kill by Mikaya Smoker- Dewitt closed the margin to 21-12. The Spartans went on to win by a 25-13 margin.
Wolf Point gained a 9-8 advantage in the third set on a spike and ace by Gracie Ferdina and a kill by Garfield.
After Baker took an 11-9 lead, the Wolves moved ahead on kills by Olson and Garfield. A kill by Smoker- Dewitt and Kayden Sibley put Wolf Point ahead by a 15-13 lead. A block by Olson increased Wolf Point’s lead to 18-13.
The Wolves still led by a 21-18 lead until Baker battled back to a 21-21 deadlock.
Wolf Point accounted for the last four points of the set including two on spikes by Smoker-Dewitt and Hamilton.
Kills by Hamilton and Ferdina tied the fourth set at 21-21.
The Spartans gained a 24-21 lead on kills by Peyton Janeway. Wolf Point fought back on a tip by Hamilton and an ace by Ferdina for a 24-23 game. Baker ended the match on a kill by Janeway.
