District Volleyball Tourney Begins


The District 1C volleyball tournament started the night of Tuesday, Oct. 27, with matches at various locations. Because of COVID-19 precautions, the tournament matches will not be held at one location this year but rather at the higher seed’s home site.
Opening-round matches on Tuesday included MonDak at Culbertson, Lustre at Scobey, Nashua at Richey/Lambert and Bainville at Savage.
Locations of matches on Thursday, Oct. 29, will include top-seeded Plentywood, fourth-seeded Fairview, second-seeded Froid/ Lake and third-seeded North Country.
Semi-final round matches are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Final matches are set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The top five teams from the tournament will advance to the divisional tournament scheduled in Sidney and Fairview on Nov. 5-7. Plentywood finished the regular season with an 11-0 record. Froid/Lake was 9-1 and North Country took third at 8-2. Fairview placed fourth at 8-3. Right behind were Scobey at 6-5, Savage at 6-5 and Richey/Lambert at 6-4.
Rounding out the standings were Culbertson at 4-7, MonDak at 3-8, Nashua at 2-8, Bainville at 1-10 and Lustre at 0-11.
