Kenneth Azure Sr. Kenneth Azure Sr.

Pastor Kenneth J. Azure Sr., 72, of Wolf Point died Oct. 22, 2020, in Great Falls.

He was born to Ben and Margie Azure in Poplar on Aug. 29, 1948. He attended the Flandreau Indian Boarding School and held a state wrestling record for many years.

He later went on to attend heavy equipment school in Missoula and held various jobs in carpentry and with the Fort Peck Housing Authority before he found his calling as a servant of God.

He married Sandy Shields on Oct. 25, 1968. Together, they had four children, the late Kenny Azure Jr., Azurene Real Bird of Phoenix, Ariz., Matthew Azure of Wolf Point and Mandy Azure of Wolf Point.

He was a father figure to many. He accepted his calling to serve his Lord in 1979 and Blue Sky Ministries began in 1981. He pastored Blue Sky Ministries faithfully for 41 years. He ministered at many camp meetings throughout Canada and the northwest United States. He loved his church family with all his heart. He was known for his witty sense of humor.

He cherished all of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in their various sports events. He enjoyed taking road trips and seeing the countryside or just a local cruise to the bridge. He loved the outdoors and mostly the last few years using his tractor to shovel snow in his churchyard.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Kenny and Mike; and siblings.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Blue Sky Ministries under the direction of Bell Mortuary.
