Additional Medical Personnel Secured For Montana
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is sending temporary medical personnel from the Department of Health and Human Services to critical access hospitals in Montana this week.
The targeted facilities are facing staffing shortages and need help preventing regional hospitals from being overwhelmed. Personnel from HHS will be deployed from the U.S. Public Health Service and Disaster Medical Assistance Teams. The full list of targeted facilities was not available at press time.
In October, U.S. Senator Daines urged FEMA to provide additional federal support to Montana, including the deployment of health care providers to support medical facilities facing staffing shortages due to the pandemic.
The following hospitals in Eastern Montana will be receiving assistance: Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, Glasgow; Sidney Health Center, Sidney; Billings Clinic, Billings.
Teams may be deployed elsewhere depending on need, The state requested the teams be in Montana for up to 30 days.
