RMC Announces Employee Of The Quarter

You might find Kim Rhodes in the business office. At least, that is where you’ll find her desk. You might also find her upstairs assisting with patient in-take, or in the clinic serving as the interim receptionist, or in the emergency room registering patients. Now, you can find her picture hanging in the lobby of Roosevelt Medical Center following her recent designation as Employee of the Quarter.
“I love my job because I get to help people receive the care they need. I always give 100% to the work I do because it’s what I was taught. If I can do something to help someone, I strongly believe I should,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes is responsible for billing, coding and assisting patients with applying for financial and medical programs to cover their healthcare needs. “Sometimes people can feel desperate about their medical bills and their inability to pay them. I like helping find ways to manage their situation in a way that makes them feel better about it,” she said.
She also works as a cancer registrar and has received a certificate of excellence for her work with cancer patients for the past two years. “She is dedicated and versatile and always quick to volunteer for extra duties. She can handle any task you give her,” said Liz Mogen, business office manager.
Rhodes has a long history with RMC. She was born at the organization’s original location and worked as a dietary aide in high school. In the late 1980s she worked as a nurse’s aide before moving to Kansas for two decades. There, she raised four children with her husband, Mike. When her family returned to Culbertson in 2013, she returned to RMC to work in the business office and has been there ever since.
“Kim is dedicated and always willing to jump in and help with projects that make our systems run smoother. She never hesitates to help in the purchasing department with inventory or with stickering items when it’s needed,” said Jennifer Kessner, CFO.
Years ago, Rhodes earned degrees in both education and accounting. Prior to returning to the area, she worked as a 3rd grade teacher and as an underwriter for Farmer’s Insurance, as well as several other jobs over the years.
“Seeing the residents smile is a great way to start my day. I want them to know that everyone here cares about them and that they are more than just a job. I have a deep respect for them and want them to know that the staff members who aren’t necessarily involved with their direct care, also care about them and their well-being,” Rhodes said.
The next Employee of the Quarter will be selected in early January.
