Trunk Or Treat Holds Fast In High Wind

Early estimates had attendance at the Church of Grace and Peace Sunday School Trunk or Treat in the hundreds at the football field in Culbertson Oct. 31. The event began at 4 p.m.

Temperatures that afternoon were in the upper 30s with winds gusting to 35 miles per hour, making the temperature with wind chill about 22 degrees.

Members of one trunk station told the Community News that they had passed out over 300 candy bars by 5 p.m.

The event was held outdoors, with social distancing measures in place. Organizers asked attendees to participate in the event at their own risk.

Organizer Tana Hauso-Berwick said attendance was enthusiastic despite high winds and low temperatures.

“I thought with the wonderful Montana weather the attendance was wonderful,” she said. “I heard from several of the ‘trunkers’ that they hope it happens again, as they enjoyed decorating their vehicles and getting to see all the kids.”

Ashlee Anderson, co-organizer, said she was pleased with the turnout. “I’m just grateful for all the businesses, organizations and families that participated and braved the cold and wind for two hours,” said Anderson.
