Froid/Lake Beats Broadus At Divisional Tourney
Froid/Lake downed Broadus, 25-11, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, in loser-out action at the Eastern C divisional volleyball tournament in Sidney on Thursday, Nov. 5.
The serving of Kinsey Rasmussen and hitting of Sydney Dethman led the Red Hawks to an 8-1 advantage in the opening set. A kill by Aleah Johnson and a block by Dethman put the margin at 14-6.
Broadus was able to close the gap to 16-9 on a tip by Abi Krantz and a block by Ciara McDowell, but the Red Hawks answered with a kill by Dasani Nesbit and aces by Dethman for a 24-10 lead. The Red Hawks won the set by a 25-11 final.
After a kill by Carolyne Christoffersen put Froid/ Lake up 8-3 in the second set, Broadus battled back to 12-9. Ahead 18-14, the Red Hawks gained a 21-14 lead on serves by Nesbit and a kill by Dethman.
Another kill by Dethman increased the margin to 23-15 en route to a 25-17 victory.
Broadus earned a 20-10 advantage in the third set, but Froid/Lake got back into the contest on the net play of Dethman and Christoffersen. A tip by Christoffersen cut the gap to 21-19 and the Red Hawks tied the game on a kill by Nesbit. Broadus bounced back and won the game, 25- 22, on a block by Krantz.
The hitting of Dethman led Froid/Lake to a 17-12 lead in the fourth set. A tip by Baylee Davidson produced a 19-13 advantage.
After a kill by Nesbit put the margin at 22-16, the Red Hawks ended the match, 25-18, on a kill by Aleah Johnson.
