MHSA Announces Starting Winter Dates
The high school basketball season will start a little earlier than anticipated and there will be a high school wrestling season, according to a news release from the Montana High School Association last week.
The MHSA earlier announced that basketball games won’t start until the week of Jan. 4, 2021. Now, it’s been changed the games can be held on Jan. 2, 2021. Schools are allowed to schedule 18 games, but conference contests must take priority.
As far as wrestling, invitational tournaments aren’t permitted. Teams can have two duals a day. Teams can have mixers as long as there is no more than 40 wrestlers competing. All wrestlers must wear masks while not competing. The state wrestling meet has been postponed until March 5-6.
The Eastern C division has decided to have its girls and boys basketball divisional tournament on separate weeks instead of having a combined tournament. The girls tournament is scheduled for Feb. 25-27, and the boys tournament is planned for March 4-6. Both tournaments will take place in Sidney.
