Gianna Boyd is determined to make the most of her senior year at Bainville High School.

She is one of the nine members of Bainville’s senior class that consists of six boys and three girls. She said it’s not too bad being in the minority as a girl in the class.

“The boys kind of just let us do what we want,” she laughed.

Boyd’s activities include being involved with the school’s FFA program. Last school year, she was a recipient of the Washington Leadership Conference-Sam Cornthwaite Memorial scholarship through FFA.

She says livestock judging and parliamentary procedures are her two favorite FFA events. She has qualified for the state competition in several different events. As Bainville’s club secretary, she is in charge of keeping track of minutes, memos and that sponsors receive proper thank yous.

Her other school activities include volleyball, cheerleading, music council and National Honor Society.

“I really like volleyball and FFA,” she noted. “Team sports are fun. You get to play with your friends that you’re with all day.”

This volleyball season she played a key role as the squad’s lone senior.

“Some of the girls looked up to me just because I’ve been in the sport for the longest time,” Boyd said.

She enjoys cheerleading because she likes traveling with other students and supporting them. She was the school’s homecoming queen this fall.

As far as music, Boyd has been playing clarinet since the sixth grade. Her solo qualified for the state music festival when she was a sophomore.

“I love Bainville’s community. There’s always staff to support you,” she said.

Her favorite class is biology and her favorite teacher is Elizabeth Standley.

She explains that she likes that class because she might want to study biology or pre-med down the line. “I’m not good at math,” she laughed.

She plans to attend Minot State University or Montana State University. But she won’t forget her time at Bainville High School.

“I really like the smaller school atmosphere,” she said. “I like the small

teacher/student ratio.”
