Senior Standouts

Culbertson High School senior Abbey Granbois looks at trying to continue reaching new heights in her life.
Her activities at the school include cheerleading, track and cross-country.
Granbois explains that her favorite sport is track.
“It’s more of a family sport,” Granbois said. “We’re a bigger team working together.”
Granbois cleared 4-10 in the high jump to earn fourth place at the Class C state track meet.
“I hope to make it to state and place hopefully in the top three,” she said of her goals for this spring.
She noted she has cleared 5-2 in practice and 5-0 at a meet.
“Maybe 5-2 or 5-4,” she said as a height goal. “We will see how it goes.”
She began trying the event as a sixth-grader. “I was decent. I started excelling more my sophomore year.”
Granbois was proud to be a member of Culbertson’s cross-country team that placed fourth at the state meet.
“It was hard, but the team was definitely worth it,” she said. “It was good friends and amazing coaches.”
Granbois has been a cheerleader for Culbertson throughout her high school career.
“I like doing the drills, interacting with fans and talking with little kids as a cheerleader,” she said.
A highlight of her senior year was being voted homecoming queen. She said she enjoyed riding on the fire truck.
Her favorite class is government. “It’s fun to learn about the court cases and everything. It’s really interesting.”
Her favorite teachers are Dave Solem and Christina Olson.
“We all pretty much know each other,” Granbois said of Culbertson school. “Every sport gets great support.”
She plans to attend either Dickinson State University or MSU-Billings and major in nursing. She might compete in track or cheerleading at the collegiate level.
