Senior Standouts
Anissa Bengochea definitely has made her mark at Culbertson High School. Whether it’s in science, sports or Business Professionals of America, her impact has been positive for the school.
One of her achievements came during last school year’s Montana Science Olympiad when she placed sixth out of 53 teams in the Sound of Music category.
Bengochea explained she needed to build an xylophone from cooper pipes for the competition. “I had to play it and tune it,” she said. “It was really hard actually.”
Bengochea, who plays the saxophone in the school band, said a lot of the event will be held virtually this school year.
A new event for her this time will be “Write It, Do It,” where she will write a script and others will act the information out.
She earned sixth place at the regional BPA meet for Health Administration Procedures last season.
This year, she along with Cody Larsen and Tige Purvis will consist of a Business Management Team for BPA.
She likes her role as secretary for student council where she’s in charge of taking minutes for meetings.
Bengochea also holds the title of reporter for Culbertson’s FFA program.
As far as sports, she is active in volleyball, track and softball. She says volleyball and softball are her co-favorite sports.
“I like playing with the team and being a part of the program,” she said.
As one of the school’s senior leaders, Bengochea appreciates what the community has to offer.
“It’s a small town and we know each other,” she said. “It’s easy to get along.”
