Strommen Sentenced To Forty Years
Valley County Targeted In Complaints
Former Valley County Undersheriff Luke Strommen was sentenced to 40 years in prison by Judge John Larson Dec. 8 in the Valley County Courthouse in Glasgow. He was found guilty of rape by a Valley County jury earlier this year and has been incarcerated in the Roosevelt County Detention Center in Wolf Point since July 17. He will be credited with 173 days served.
As part of his sentence, Strommen will not be eligible for parole for 10 years. In October, 2019, Strommen pleaded guilty to a separate charge of soliciting sexually explicit images from a 17-year-old.
According to the Great Falls Tribune, two of Strommen’s victims have filed complaints against Valley County in U.S. District Court, alleging that county officials knew or should have known that Strommen was unfit for duty prior June 15, 2018, when an official investigation into misconduct was opened. No hearing dates have been set.
