Bainville FFA Meet Sees Record Turnout

Bulldogs FFA advisor Kellan Standley told the Community News that attendance was good at the Dec. 14 district meet in Bainville.
“I was blown away by the turnout,” said Standley. “This was the most floriculture participants at least since I’ve been in the district (8 years) if not ever. With COVID-19, I asked advisors to give me a ‘best-case’ count for planning purposes, expecting a lot of drops. Those never materialized, which is awesome. In speaking with other advisors, the thing that kept coming up was how ready everyone was/ is to be able to do something outside of their school, and how great it was to be able to have a hands-on, in-person event again.”
In the individual floriculture event, Bainville’s Donna Butikofer placed 10th; Gianna Boyd placed 16th, Hallie Iverson placed 25th and Micah Anderson placed 32nd.
Culbertson students: Autumn Bergum, 11th place, Anissa Bengochea, 20th place; Alicyn Ator, 23rd and Kenadee Kempton placed 30th.
Froid: Carolyne Christofferson placed 13th; Makaylee Elvaas placed 42nd; Jenifer Guzman placed 45th and Elise Logan placed 49th.
In the team floriculture event, Culbertson varsity placed second, Bainville placed fourth and Froid came in sixth. The team from Opheim placed first.
“This was the most chapters that have participated in any district CDE ever, as far as I know,” said Standley. “There was only one of our district’s 14 chapters that didn’t attend.”
The next district event is on Jan. 18 in Culbertson for ag mechanics and job interview.
