Governor Says State Making Strides On Reducing COVID-19 Spread

Montana has been making strides in reducing the spread of COVID after additional restrictions were put in place on Nov, 20, Gov. Steve Bullock said in a press conference on Thursday, Dec. 10.

“Case numbers have started to decline,” Bullock said.

The governor added that wearing masks and limiting gathering sizes work in containing the virus. Bullock said hospital stays have also decreased.

“We’re seeing signs that give us some optimism,” Bullock said.

He thanked Montanans for stepping up by following the restrictions, “but we can’t let our guard down now and in the coming months as we come closer to reaching the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Bullock said Montana will receive its first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine, 9,750 first dose allotments, as early as this week. Those doses will be earmarked for health care workers in the state’s 10 major hospitals.

When another round of Pfizer along with Moderna arrive in the state, those doses will be used primary for health care workers in more rural areas.

“These are health care workers who put their lives at risk while performing their jobs,” Bullock said.
