Gustafson Charged With Drug Possession

Christopher Gustafson was scheduled to make an initial appearance in district court Wednesday, Dec. 16, on two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs and one count of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. One felony count involves the alleged possession of heroin and the other felony count involves the alleged possession of suboxone.

Maximum penalties for the felony charges are five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. He could be jailed up to six months and fined up to $500 for the misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.

According to court records, the Montana Highway Patrol was notified at 7:52 a.m. on Dec. 2, of a hit-and-run near Wolf Point. The trooper received information from a special agent that they believed drugs and a gun were in the vehicle.

The vehicle, driven by Gustafson, was located and stopped at about 10:13 a.m. Authorities had Canine Sammy search the vehicle and the dog showed alert behavior. Gustafson gave permission to search the vehicle. Discovered were nine meth pipes, three small meth pipes, one scale, three torch lighters, one vape rig, one container with 1.8 grams of suspected heroin, 15 strips of suboxone, tinfoil, two suboxone pills, a 9mm pistol and 78 rounds.
