Bigger Sky Kids Receives Grant For McIntyre
Bigger Sky Kids’ has received notice of a 2020 grant in support of local painter Cathryn McIntyre from the Montana Arts Council. The artist-in-schools-and-community grant will add 12 classes to McIntyre’s 2021 schedule.
“We hope the community will join us in a big thank you to the arts council,” says BSK president Char Matejovsky. “They helped us bring Cathryn on board in 2018. Since then, their support, which has drawn matching funds from MDU and individual donors, has made it possible to keep her engaged.”
Matejovsky says Bigger Sky Kids is committed to finding funding for future years.
“Cathryn’s work is central to our mission,” she explained.
McIntyre’s class on studio art, which was scheduled to meet thirty times in the 2019–2020 academic year, was suspended in March with seven classes remaining. Those sessions will also carry over to 2021, ensuring at least nineteen classes over the course of the coming year.
BSK sponsors after-school, artbased instruction and provides a safe place for children to participate in program activity.
