Chatterton Pleads Guilty To Burglary, Theft

Riley John Chatterton of Sidney made guilty pleas to two felony charges as part of plea agreement in district court on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Chatterton gave guilty pleas for burglary and theft for taking items for a Culbertson location on June 18.

Maximum penalties for the offense of burglary is 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine or both. Maximum penalties for the offense of theft are three years in prison and a fine of $1,500 or both.

Chatterton admitted that on June 18, he was performing construction work at a location in Culbertson. He then entered and unlawfully stayed at the home to commit theft. He admitted to actually obtaining control of property, jewelry, working in excess of $1,500.

Judge David Cybulski ordered a pre-sentence investigation before deciding on the plea agreement.
