With three returning starters, Bainville’s boys’ basketball team is shooting to qualify for the divisional tournament this season.

Starters back for the Bulldogs include 6-4 senior Kaden Hansen, 6-2 junior Braeden Romo and 5-9 junior Jesse Strickland. Last season, Strickland earned All-Conference second team honors.

“Just like last year, we look to finish in the top five,” Bainville coach Jess Romo said. “We were right there last year.”

Sophomore Aiden Knudsen and freshman Samuel Butikofer also saw a lot of varsity playing time last season.

“We have a big group of freshman boys,” Coach Romo said. “I think they will be competitive. There will be learning to do though.”

Bainville’s turnout features 11 boys including six freshmen.

“We will be struggling with depth,” Coach Romo said. “That’s a decent number, but we lack experience.”

He feels the Bulldogs have enough talent to be competitive in District 2C.

“Our tempo will be fastpaced,” Coach Romo said. “We do have a little bit of size.”

The coach sees Froid/Lake and Fairview as the teams to beat in the league this season. Richey/Lambert might be right behind.

“Other than that, I think it’s going to be up for grabs,” Coach Romo said.
