Wrestlers Open Season With Mixer In Wolf Point

Wrestlers from Wolf Point and Poplar opened their seasons with a mixer in Wolf Point on Monday, Jan. 4. Other teams competing included Malta and Harlem.

“We came ready to wrestle,” Poplar Coach Jason Frederick said. “There were no surprises.”

Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said, “We won the matches we should. We came close in other matches.”

Both coaches were pleased that they could open their seasons. “I’m happy we got some mat time,” Vandall said.

Winning matches on pins for Poplar included Jazmin Gorder, Jase Frederick, Gage Berg, Logan Boadle, Marcus Genia, Jacob Berger, Mitchell Youngman and Kameron Reum.

Other highlights included Gage Berg outpointing Malta’s Colton Mears by a 10-8 margin, Aries White Tail Feather beating Malta’s Jaden Keeling, 10-4, and Logan Boadle defeated Malta’s Spencer Gibbs, 5-3.

Earning pins for Wolf Point included Charlie Smith, Jordan Davis, Jolie Beston and Charlie Page.

The Wolves will compete in Forsyth on Friday, Jan. 8, and Baker on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Poplar travels to Circle on Saturday, Jan. 9.
