Bainville Boys Open Season With Win
Bainville’s boys’ basketball squad opened its season on a high note as the Bulldogs edged Plentywood, 66-62, at home on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
The Bulldogs trailed 14-8 after the first quarter, but Bainville struck for 24 points in the second quarter to pull to 34-32. Kaden Hansen accounted for 12 points in the quarter.
Bainville then moved ahead 52-40 in the third quarter. Leading the Bulldogs in the period was Chuck Butikofer with 10 points including two three-pointers. Hansen added four points in the period.
Plentywood tallied 20 points in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs held on for the victory.
Bainville’s top scorers were Hansen with 21, Chuck Butikofer with 19 and Sam Butikofer with 14 points.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Jesse Strickland with nine and Braeden Romo with three points.
Bainville’s girls’ basketball team lost its season opener against Plentywood by a 66-16 final on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
Plentywood took an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and led 43-7 at intermission.
The Wildcats were ahead 60-9 after three quarters of play.
Lakyn Rabbe led Bainville with seven points.
Kaitlyn Adkins scored three points for the Bulldogs. Adding two points each were Sadie Ullmer, Gwen Nelson and Micah Anderson.
