Culbertson Falls Against Thunder
Culbertson dropped both of its home basketball games against MonDak on Friday, Jan. 8.
The Cowboys lost by a 72-42 final.
MonDak jumped out to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter and increased the margin to 35-23 at the half.
After leading 49-33 at the end of the third quarter, the Thunder accounted for 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Colin Avance led Culbertson with 18 points. Payton Perkins added seven points.
Also scoring for the Cowboys were Hunter Lucas with six, James Kirkaldie with five, Mike Pederson with four and Maurice Bighorn with two.
Top scorers for MonDak were Keegan Nelson with 23 and Darian Holchek with 22 points. Also reaching double figures were Aidian Harbin with 13 and Erik Field with 11.
The Cowgirls fell by a 44-27 margin against MonDak.
After the Thunder gained a 14-3 lead in the first quarter, Culbertson cut the gap to 21-15 at intermission. MonDak took a 30-18 lead at the end of the third quarter and scored 15 points in the final period.
Makena Hauge scored eight points to lead the Cowgirls. Megan Granbois and Perla Burciaga added seven points each. Destiney Thompson had five points.
Reaching double figures for the Thunder were Brynn Folvag with 17, Elizabeth Field with 13 and Emma Smart with 10.
