Red Hawks Beat Fairview By Point

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks emerged with a 46-45 victory over Fairview in a District 2C boys’ basketball showdown in Medicine Lake on Saturday, Jan. 9.

After a 23-23 deadlock at half-time, the Red Hawks led 37-35 at the end of the third quarter.

Fairview opened the fourth quarter with a basket by Hunter Sharbono and a three-pointer by Paul Hardy to take a 40-35 lead. After a basket by Bode Miller with 6:30 left, Fairview’s Kaden Skogas hit a three-pointer to put the Warriors ahead 43-39.

The Red Hawks fought back as two hoops by Javonne Nesbit closed the gap to 45-43 with 3:25 left. A pair of free throws by Nesbit tied the game at 45-45 with 2:18 remaining.

A free throw by Nesbit put the Red Hawks ahead 46-45 with 1:46 left. The Red Hawks held Fairview scoreless the rest of the way.

Top scorers for the Red Hawks were Nesbit with 20 and Mason Dethman with 16 points. B. Miller scored eight and Colt Miller added two.

Leading Fairview were Hardy with 17 and Sharbono with 10 points.

The Red Hawks travel to Richey on Friday, Jan. 15, and to Bainville on Saturday, Jan. 16.
