Froid High School senior Jason Eylander is glad that he is receiving his education in a rural setting.
“I like how personal everything is,” Eylander said of attending school in Froid. “There is a lot of one-on-one instruction.”
Eylander’s activities during his high school days have included football, basketball, track, FFA and Business Professionals of America.
He said playing football is his favorite activity. “It’s because we grew up together and playing all these years on the same team has been special.”
He will always remember that the Red Hawks earned the six-man football championship during his senior season.
“This year from the start, I felt like we had something special going,” Eylander said.
In track, Eylander competes in the discus, 200-meter dash and shot put. He has enjoyed his most success in the discus.
He enjoys the Business Professionals of America program. He participated in the advanced spread sheets applications category this school year.
“I like it because it’s something that I understand,” Eylander said.
His favorite subjects are science and math.
“I’ve always been fascinated with sciences,” Eylander added.
He plans to attend Lone Star College in Texas. He selected that school in order to live close to his father.
Although Eylander says he plans to concentrate on general studies at first, he wants to get into oceanography.
“I’ve always been interested in the ocean,” Eylander said.
